Seeing not a lot of available quality tackles and the Niners recent history of getting poor FA's, I went with the line.

Jake Long
Joe Thomas
Calvin Johnson
Matt Ryan
Chris Long
Matt Stafford
Jason Smith
Eugene Munroe

it would be a real tough decision between Joe Thomas, Calvin Johnson and Matt Ryan

I'd probably take the QB

Took the words right of my mouth...or hand...or whatever.

its not really fair to put this years class in there. we have no idea what they will do.

I'd just skip down to #7 and take Adrian Peterson.

From the 6 of the last two classes, and my own top 3 projections for this year, it'd look like:

Matt Ryan
Joe Thomas
Calvin Johnson
Eugene Monroe
Brian Orakpo
Chris Long
Jake Long
Matt Stafford
JaMarcus Russell

I actually, even when looking back, wouldn't spend a top 10 pick on Adrian Peterson. He has probably 4-5 years left in him and the way he runs he gets injured and I wouldn't be surprised if he pulled a Carnell Williams soon.

Well it's kind of a moot point, but what the hell...

I gotta say, despite Matt Ryan's rookie success, I would go with Chris Long. I really think that guy is going to be something special.

Same as you and escobar... hard decision between those three but I think I would also lean towards Jake Long.. he is just a beast.

This sparks an interesting debate, because he's arguably among the most dangerous players with the ball in his hands. So, is it worth it to draft a guy and get those 6 years of glory? And if so, usually, a #1's rookie contract is up after 5 or 6 years. How do explain not re-signing him if he's still a year away from the signals the wheels are about to fall off?

Ryan. If he continues to improve, Atlanta have a quality QB, and if you get the right one, it's like winning the lottery.

We also have to take into account the games he misses due to injury. I think it makes much more sense to draft a RB later, who are a dime in a dozen, than to draft one in the top 10 when you could improve a much more important position.

Well, I am sure Green Bay agrees with you. They passed on a potential stud running back to take a "monster" LT with the second pick of the 1989 draft. Of course, that plan absolutely back fired, but nonetheless.

Then again, you really have to feel bad for them. Looked it up and apparently their stud LT is the only top 5 pick that year that won't be in the Hall of Fame. Aikman, "The Incredible Bulk," Barry, Derrick Thomas and Deion Sanders.

Don't forget that Peterson is not an every down player. Within the top 10, I'd expect anyone I drafted to play each and every down.
