Owens misses start of Bills' voluntary workouts

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) - T.O. was a no-show Monday for the start of the Bills (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/team/buffalo-bills) voluntary offseason conditioning program.

That didn't stop his new teammates from eagerly awaiting Terrell Owens (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/player/70702)' arrival - whenever that might occur - and even getting in a laugh or two.

"I'm really excited about meeting the guy," center Geoff Hangartner (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/player/300371) said. "I've heard he's a great teammate."
Hangartner, who signed with the Bills (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/team/buffalo-bills) on Feb. 28, even got a joke in at Owens' expense, showing there's more than one Bills (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/team/buffalo-bills) newcomer with a playful side. With an obvious wink and a smile, Hangartner complained his free-agent signing has since been overshadowed by Owens, who made a far bigger splash a week later when he signed a one-year, $6.5 million deal.

It should only get better! Just wish it was happening to different organization.

Hes old, and still in great shape.....two reasons why the first days of VOLUNTARY workouts matter even less to a player like owens.

to a WR timing with a QB is rather important. The first day of voluntary camps, much like the first day of TC means less to actually getting football work done and more about showing a committment to your team. He wouldn't have had to do anything today other than show up, say hi and watch if he wanted. The issue/problem that is made here is that Owens, despite giving his word, did not show up to say hi to the new guys.

He's a vet, it's not surprising. But it does show that he's not super gung ho.

Anyway, I don't read much into it. Just more TO fodder for the media to overblow and over-report.
