Where the hell is Adam Schefter?

Anybody seen Adam Schefter lately? His blog hasn't been updated in weeks and he hasn't been on NFLTA in forever.

Last I heard was there was some kind of contract dispute between him and the league? Dude was spot-on with the breaking news and it seems odd he'd disappear right in the middle of free agency and the draft...

What's up with Adam Schefter, alumnus of Bellmore Kennedy High and one of the NFL Network's most recognizable figures?

Schefter hasn't blogged on NFL.com since March 3, hasn't appeared on "Total Access" since March 6 and now is nowhere to be seen at the owners' meetings in California.

All Schefter would say about it Monday was this: "I’m under contract to NFL Network until the middle of August, and I’ve been very happy there and I’m hoping we can work things out."

Hmm. OK, so it appears there is a lack of an agreement on the financial terms of a contract extension. From what I have heard, this involves a quite substantial gap.

But why the mysterious disappearance from the network at the busiest time of the offseason?

The NFL Network's statement on this matter: "We are moving forward with the talented staff who will be on NFL Network and NFL.com during the 2009 season."

I remember that his baby was born recently so maybe this is just the first time since then when it isn't really busy for him and he took some time off to spend with his new kid.

I would guess its because the NFLN is struggling financially. He'll be a 4 letter network guy before long.

If NFLN is hurting with money then they need to get rid of Jamie Dukes and Marshall Faulk so Shefter can come back.

Rich Eisen, Fran Charles, Terrell Davis, Rod Woodson, Charley Casserly, and Jim Mora Sr. can run the commentating by themselves.

a) he's a college student

b) don't all working adults, with benefits, accrue vacation time?

c) teachers pretty much get 3 months off of work each summer

d) the longest I've taken was the month of july off a couple years back because I have had the vacation time saved up.

After covering all of these high profile players contract negotiations, he thought to himself...self, I think i should be getting paid too! So yes he too is in the middle of a contract dispute.

He did say that I could fill in for him until his return.

Update:

49ers will not be getting Cutler, Peppers, Holt, Harrison, ect, ect, and word on the street is that the coaching staff are very optimistic about A. Smith winning the QB battle.

Lastly, niners remain firm on their decision to select the best available talent with their
1st pick, and after getting a sneak peek, the teams new uni's are smokin' hot!
