I work at Chili's in Seaside, Cali. During the middle of the dinner rush, I saw this big guy standing where you pick up your food when you place a to-go order. I thought to myself "****, he looks like David Bass". So I go over and say to him "Anybody ever tell you that you look like David Bass". He just smiled and said "Thats me". So my eyes lit up and I shook his hand and introduced myself (His hands were HUGE). I was surprised by how honest he was about some of the questions I asked....

So we start talkin about the team and the first thing he said was that Singletary is leading them in the right direction. Then he said he was really excited that the 49ers got Crabtree (He said "Thanks to the stupid Raiders) haha! I asked him if Crabtree was running yet and he said he hasn't seen him yet so he didn't know. Then we started talkin about Vernon and he said that Vernon plays with a lot of emotion but that sometimes he cares too much about himself and not the team. Those were his exact words. Then we got into the QB competition and he said that Alex has had some really bad luck. He mentioned that it has been tough for everyone to learn a new offense every year. Then he said that Shaun Hill wasn't given a fair chance at the starting qb position at training camp because J.T. already knew Martz's offense. He said it was because of "stuff that was going on behind closed doors". I was really surprised that he said that. He said that they are plannin on running the ball a lot this year and he was excited about that. He mentioned how he didn't like the 7 step drops that the QB's had to take last year. And check this out...HE said "I wish the DeBartalo's still owned the team. I feel like the York's are not spending their money well". Those were his words.......He also said they are going to win the west

He was super cool and didn't dodge any of my questions. It was funny because my manager came up to me and said "You know you need to greet two tables right?" And I said "Ya I know, but I'm a huge 9er fan". David said "I dont want you to get in trouble" and I said "Dude, I'm a diehard 9er fan. I dont care about greeting those tables right now." My manager yelled at me later in the night because those tables were sitting there for a while. But I didnt care. I got to spend about ten min. Chattin it up with David Bass. Thanks for reading my story guys. I am super pumped about the season!!!!

...to the owners that sign his checks...

...saying something about a team mate,in this case Vernon Davis, that he's sometimes a bit more concerned about himself than the team,is not something I would think would be for general consumption...bad form, even if we've speculated the claim to be true in the past...

...he wasn't around when Eddie had the team,so how would he truthfully know what it was like???...the results of his ownership were obvious to us all,but we'll never know how the old administration would've handled the salary cap issues that were unavoidable...

...I'm glad you had a chance to speak with him,but without being there to hear exactly what he said,it appears to me he shows poor judgment in expressing the private inner workings of the team...maybe that's partly why it's taken him so long to break into the 1st string...

An interesting thread, in the red zone of all places? Wow.

Anyway, that's pretty cool. I'm pretty surprised at some of his answers as well.

Well he probably answered your questions honestly because he didnt think you'd be putting it on the internet...which is a sucky idea. Should have kept all that to yourself as well as the Vernon comment.

That's a lot of information to be given while waiting for his pick-up order, I hope he didn't call ahead, cause that's some slow service.
