I hate being deployed during the season. I was deployed during the 2004 season (I don't know if I wanted to witness what happened during that season, but I hate missing a game). If your lucky, AFN might put on a game for you. I was fortunate enough to catch one of the 49ers/Rams games while I was deployed.

The best way to catch the game is NFL gameday or something like that. Especially if AFN doesnt come through or show the game. I was in Iraq for all of 2008 but I got lucky and they showed ALOT of 49er games. I wish the best of luck to you and come home safe Brother.

I was deployed all of last season in Iraq, and the 06 season as well.

Luckily, I changed jobs to where I won't deploy for the next two seasons, so I'll get to watch some 49ers games at a reasonable time.

The only downside is that I'm in Montana and Seattle is the local NFC team (at least the bowling alley has Sunday Ticket).

Good luck, be safe, kick some butt and get home soon.

Hey Brother I got You,

I am currently deployed in OIF (Army) and will be getting home sometime this year (or so they tell me). It's a kick in the rear, AFN (Armed Forces Network, basically military TV, you probally already know this unless you're new to the military) shows the games 3 days late typically (occasionally they will have one or two of the games live (the big ticket ones) but Iraq is a 10-11 hour time difference (doesn't do daylight savings), and I hear Afghanistan is a 13-14 hour time difference. Problem is AFN Sport has sportscenter and it is only a day behind (and is on in ALL the chow-halls) and they always show the highlights, so watching a game is **** hard knowing the outcome. If you have any questions feel free to shoot me a message, I'd be happy to give you an email and answer any questions I can.

Oh I deffinately hear it, two of my roommates are Packers fans, and the other is a Bears fan. When those three are going at it, they hate on me for being a Niners fan. Thanks again for support though! Go Niners!

haha, you're right. Camp Victory actually. Yep, this is my last hoo-rah so to speak, as I'm stop-lossed and set to ETS next March. I volunteered for this deployment because I had two bestfriends who were going to stay in to go, and couldn't let em go without me. So here I am. PSD is gay, especially because we work for the MNF-I CSM, and I'm his gunner - which riding in a truck with a guy (a Sapper at that) who thinks he's super hardcore, who really isn't, can get annoying when he's calling out every MRE box on the side of the road. Baghdad is weak. I was in Fallujah/Ramadi last tour, and oh boy, did we have some fun...

I am up in Diyala right now (FOB War Horse)and we're having.... fun. If you can call it that, oh and tell that CSM of yours to knock off the low carry rule on VBC, it's funny as hell watching fobbits salute with a weapon but some officer is going to get shot. I think I have one more deployment left, Afghanistan in a couple. I love the Shooter McCooter types, they're a kick, there is a PSG of this one TAC we sometimes roll with that is like that, always wants EOF back-briefs and gets a hardon when he gets to run someone off the road.

haha, well there are very few posts left in iraq that are no-salute. mostly marine bases. force protection is so good, it'd be hard for a sniper to get an officer. i mean - vbc and alot of fobs have burger king for crying out loud. i was actually just at war horse a couple weeks ago. we pass through there regularly. a guy on our team was with 2nd I.D. at war horse in 07-08. the monument of the fallen soldiers that war horse has hits home, i was in iraq in 06-07, and it was a hard time back then. 06 was insane in iraq, especially with the surge. anyways bro - take care and keep in touch. maybe when i head back up that way ill see u around. whats your name/rank?

Most every COP I have, or do stay on is no hat/no salute, usually only a company or platoon sized element there though, showers every 5th day no ugandans. Fun places.

Yea, I am on a small fob in Afghanistan and you better salute an officer. And every fob/base I have been on is the same way. I guess things have changed. When I was getting ready everyone I knew that had been deployed said never salute. Now its mandatory. Hooah!!!

Oh trust me, being an 88M, you're in high demand over here in Iraq and likewise in Afghanistan. Depending on what unit you fall into, being on convoys 3 to 4 days a week can either be good, or really bad - depending on the equipment you have. Just a heads up - the vehicle called the M-RAP, sucks worse than JTO. Oh it's true...

As I said COMPLICATIONS (I know I mispelled it) arise with peace core and a clearance, usually if you already have a clearance it's no biggie, but if you go PC first you run into issues, I have a buddy that couldn't get MOS Qualified over the deal, he now kicks in doors as an 11B instead of what he wanted to do because of it.

I understand. But I had no problems with getting my security clearance after I lost my line badge. There was no problems with my higher clearance. There could have been other issues with his case.
