Remember how terrible this guy was in preseason last year. Wow how things change. It will be really interesting to see what he does this season.

I wonder how much they paid him.....he isnt worth 1/3 or the 15+ mil. they were going to pay him this season.

so he's not worth 5 mill..
how do u feel about alex smith making 4 mill
to make things worse, Smith is making 4M this year but is counting 8M against the cap... he shouldn't even be making 500K.
I'd totally scream "Scott Mitchell!!!" but I've learned to always give the benefit of the doubt to well-managed teams. Scott Pioli is a good talent evaluator so it might work it out for the Chiefs.

Is anyone really surprised? I mean yeah, he might crash and burn (like I think he will), but if he doesn't they don't have to worry about him going into free agency next year.

didnt he restructure his contract so it wouldnt count towards the cap?
or am i way off:unsure:
yes, he took a paycut which dropped his cap number from $12M to $8M. His guaranteed cap proration still counts alongside his base salary.

Its a 6 year deal for 63 million,$28 million guaranteed. First 3 years is worth $40.5 million.
GJ Chiefs. You just signed a guy that got sacked 47 times behind the Patriots offensive line. Funny thing is when he got sacked he was usually in Shotgun which makes it worse.

I hope he does well. Seems like a really good guy and I really enjoyed watching him last year. Really good story.

Cripes, I changed my mind. A 2 or 3 year contract would have been ideal for them, then extend him if he plays well. They just stuck themselves with a huge risk for 6 years.

After a dam good season with an offense that was setting NFL records? Yeah, but you could have had a dam good season on that team.

yea thanks to crabs,VD,and Gore.
also i dont think cap space and merchandise sales profit are related. meaning you cant take the money you make on jerseys, concessions, tickets, etc and create more cap for the team.
pretty sure but could be wrongo.

I hope they fail so hard. Meanwhile, Thyler Thigpen goes to the Broncos and wins 8 Super Bowls.

No, we already have Shaun Hill and Alex Smith who'll take turns leading us to a SB for the next 8 seasons. It'll be the Broncos vs the 49ers in the SB for the next 8 years.

*Waits for inevitable "We should have traded for Cassel" threads when the Chiefs win, and the "See, this is why we didn't trade for Cassel" threads every time the Cheifs have a bad game.*

The chiefs love picking up back-up quarterbacks from great teams...Can't they just work on their own prospects for once?
