Now be honest should he have waited for shanahan or are you fine with singletary? I am fine with singletary.

I wanted us to wait but even if we did, there's no guarantee Shanahan would've signed with us. I think he just wanted a break from coaching.

I see Singletary as an extension of the McNolan era. If we do not make the playoffs in 2009, then we might just have to start anew with Shanahan.

He's plantin' a seed in Jerry Jones mind. Probably hoping for a SD vacancy too.

would much rather have had Shanahan than Singletary. That point is moot now. The verdict's still out on Singletary so let's see what he can do in his first full year before writing him off.

Saw today that Shanahan is currently the highest paid coach in the league right now. He just isn't allowed to coach for another year. He's getting 7 mil from the broncos this year to not coach.

I've been not coaching all my life. How much do I get?

I agree I want to see what Singletary will do in a full season before considering Shanahan or someone else.

If Sing proves to be a failure then I'm all for Shanahan. His running scheme will fit perfectly for Gore.

Is your title long enough?

you know you dont have to copy and paste article titles as thread titles.

Shanahan hasnt had much success in Denver in a long time. As much as I like him....... i dont think id want him in SF. Prior to the season, I hoped he would come, but the more i thought about it, i dont think so.

I believe he will be the coach of either Washington or Dallas next season.

The jury is still out for me on Sing. Our offense will be basic and Ho Hum compared to a Shanahan offense.

Unless Elway is coming out of retirement Shanahan isn't going to win another Superbowl.

And how many times has Singletary coached a team to the Super Bowl?

I will take an unknown over a retread anyday.

I would rather take a Super Bowl winning coach over guy who made a fool of himself his first game as HC.

And I would rather be a bully than a drama queen, give me a break. If you think that a coach dropping his pants in front of his team in a locker room is that big of a deal then you have no idea some of the **** that happens in the lockerroom. Sing has been with the team forever, and he has been in a lockerroom his entire life, I promise you that noone on the team lost any respect over this.

Most of what I remember about it were a bunch of *****es whining about how disgusting this was and how he embarrassed himself. Bullocks! This pansy assed attitude to something totally benign is why people call us the Farty Whiners.

As for jujmping on a "Superbowl winning coach" that's just great! How many of those coaches win a Superbowl with the next team they coach?

A bit sensitive, are we?

I feel we made the best decision at the time, and even if I knew that Shanahan would be available, I would do it again. The only way to know if you have a great coach is to put your faith in him and go for it. For all we know, Sing will be legendary. He might even fail, who knows.

Now I think Shanahan would be a great fit for many reasons, but I also think that Sing offers us something the Rat could not...

Sing gives us the "Obamaesque" element. It's no secret that african americans respond better to their own kind, and feel they will respect and play better in support of him. The caucasion players will also respond to him because he is a genuinely great guy. I felt the same about Tony Dungy, and look how he turned out.

This is one of those small details that add up on the end. I just hope Sing can be as good a decison maker and "Head Coach", as he is an inspiration and motivator.

Lastly, he also has the ablilty to lead by example.

You are the one still bellyaching over Singletary dropping his pants.

Who's bellyaching? I wasn't even taking about his pants. I am just saying that I would rather have a guy who's won a Super Bowl as a coach over Singletary. I think Singletary will be a great coach someday, but it won't be with us.

Seriously? Wow. Bill Walsh, Bill Bellichick, did those guys have to take Ebonics courses or something?
