The man did the time for the crime so he should be able to play again TBO he will give us a better chance to win, better than hill, smith or any QB that will be in the draft next year.So stop trying to act like you people have never done anything wrong or terrible because if this happened to you,you would want people to fogive you to!!!!!! Let's sign Vick i am in favor anybody agree?

I would love to hear your opinion on why each Tim Tebow, Sam Bradford, & Colt McCoy are going to be busts. Also please compare each of them in our offense to Michael Vick in our offense.
If you're going to already call them all busts, then you must know something that the rest of us don't know.
Please educate me.

First off all of those QB's are spread QB's they don't take snaps under center that's not the kind of offense we are running right? Vick atleast takes snaps under center and has already played in the league,on top of that he has taken his team to the playoffs hill or smith have never done it and how many of those QB's in the draft are ready to do any of that?
we haven't been to the playoffs since 02 none of those QB's will give us that chance right now, vick will.he has been there before and he knows what it takes to get there.

Well the even though the 49ers don't run the spread offense, it is the most popular offense in college football. A lot of teams run some kind of variation of the spread. So most QB's coming in the league are going to have to make the change to the pro style offense. This transition does not mean they will be a bust, and for anyone to use that as an argument is not being realistic.
Secondly, Michael Vick does not know what it takes to get to the playoffs. He is 2-2 in his postseason games. Peyton Manning, Kurt Warner, Matt Hasselbeck, Tom Brady, Steve McNair....those are/were QB's that knew what it took to get to the playoffs.
He can run and that's it. He had an offense that was built around him and he still couldn't consistently make it to the playoffs. The only records that he holds as a QB are all rushing records. I just don't see how he can be an improvement.

For the style of offense that we are going to run i think vick can handle it,plus his arm is better than smith and hill's arm.

The Saints passing attack has nothing to do with what type of offense he played in college. That is totally up to Pete Carmichael and Sean Peyton. What Offtackle was pointing out was that Drew Brees came from a spread offense and is a very successful QB in the NFL. He was able to make the transition. Therefore saying that just because a QB comes from a spread offense does not mean he's going to be a bust like you stated earlier.

I'm not saying all QB's that come from the spread are going to be a bust,We have a Spread QB on the team now and i think he is a Bust "Smith" we don't need another one,the reason the saints got Brees is because they throw the ball more of course,we are not running that style of offense so why draft a QB that runs that style of offense? are you telling me vick wouldn't be a better fit for what we are doing?

The saints passing attack has alot to do with it,that's why he is there QB,they wouldn't put shaun hill in their passing attack because that's not what they are looking for.
They want a QB that can speard the ball around and throw it deep, that's my point why draft any of those QB's when that's not the style of offense we run?that has alot to do with players being bust, when you pick the wrong players for the system that you are running.

IMO Vick will not compliment the style of offense that we're running what so ever. Raye and Sing have decided that we're going more towards a power running game. We brought back Norris to block for Gore and brought in Coffee. We have Michael Robinson/Battle in case we want to deviate and run some Wildcat. We drafted Crabtree and we have Morgan, Hill, Bruce, Zeigler, & Jones....which is saying that while we're still focused on the run game we still are going to take our shots down field. Where exactly does Vick fit in all that?
Vick may have a strong arm, there's no denying that, but his accuracy is nothing to be desired. His best completion % was in 2004 at 56.4%. Since Hill has been with the 49ers his completion percentage 64.0%. Over Vick's career his interception percentage has been an average of 3.0% while Hills has been 2.5%. Vicks touchdown percentage over his career has averaged 4.1% while Hill has averaged 4.9%.
No matter where I look I just can't find where Vick is an overall better QB and a definite upgrade from what we have.

Calling Vick a "bum QB" might be a compliment. Even when he was in shape and on a roster he was beyond mediocre as a passer. Now he hasn't done anything football-related in nearly two years. McCoy/Bradford/Tebow/Snead at this point all have better upside.

You have your opinion and i have mine,i just think we would be a dangerous team with vick because he an extra person for teams to gameplan for,you don't have to put any real gameplan in for the QB's we have.
You can throw stats in there but you and i know both that vick is better than any QB on our roster.

I think it was the 2004 NFC championship game against the Eagles. I can't remember for sure, but I know exactly what you're talking about. He kept getting sacked and pulled himself from the game saying he was hurt. He looked healthy while he was sitting on the sideline though.

No I don't know that Vick is better than our current QB's. I watched Vick constantly from 2001-2004 while I lived in Georgia. The Falcons were shoved down your throat and if you wanted to watch football on Sundays then you were watching the Falcons games.
I'm throwing stats in there to give you hard facts, not opinions, which seems only Vick supporters can give. From 2001 through 2006 the Atlanta Falcons record was: 7-9, 9-6-1, 5-11, 11-5, 8-8, 7-9. Not very impressive at all. For all the game planning that has to be done for Michael Vick, it looks like the rest of the NFL figured it out relatively quickly.
Stats don't change, which is exactly why Vick supporters have such a hard time proving their cause as worthy.

That's a false dichotomy. If we don't sign Vick we don't need to draft a bust QB, we already have Alex Smith on the roster for less than what a first round pick will cost next year. Instead of signing Vick/bust, we can just draft in other areas of need.

No he is not with them now but are you insinuating that Brees sucked with the chargers? I dont see your argument at all. Stevie Wonder can see the ridiculousness of the thread more clearly than you can. I gave you Vick's records with the Falcons- mediocre. I gave you his stats compared to Hill's- Hill is better. We've given you examples of spread QB's that can flourish in the NFL system- which was your original argument against drafting them. What are you failing to see here?
You should listen to your previous quote and let someone who is deserving earn the spot to play here.
Hill should start so we can see what he can do with a whole season under his belt, that's the only way to tell if hill is the better option.
Without a whole season everybody will always say he is 7-3 as a starter and 5-2 last year and that doesn't really tell you anything,so let's hope he can get to play the full season and then we can tell if he is best for the team or not.
Now, besides your opinion, and I stress you opinion. What evidence do you have that Vick, after two years of not playing, never seeing a playbook, flipping off his home Falcons crown, taking weed through the airport in a water bottle, & lying in the face of his owners coaches and the commissioner of the NFL, can do to upgrade any position on this team.

That dosen't mean we would go after brees,i know if you or i was in the front office we would do it. That Warner thing was BS We are suppose to be this smash mouth team and then we go after a QB that plays with 3 or 4 WR's every play, Please that whole thing was a load of SH!!!
Here I'll give you a good example. The bears this year are not a team that caters to a gunslinging quarterback. They lack elite recievers but have a good running back and good potential at the tight end position. Yet, they still went with Jay Cutler because they believe he will make them better even though they are trying to be a smashmouth team. Teams are gonna go for a quarterback that can be elite if they can regardless of what kind of offensive system they run.

OK,i see what you are saying but that almost never happens we had a chance to get cutler and what did we do?nothing so we are not one of the teams that are looking for an elite QB right? we just want to stick with hill and smith.
All teams who have franchise QB's are locking them up so you may never see another QB like that floating out there.Do you agree that vick is better than anything on our roster?plus we can get him for little to nothing.

Dude don't give me a QB that hasen't even played a whole season stats, that's a bowl of Sh!! all of that means nothing how many whole seasons has hill played and how many playoffs has he been to?
Um, ok, dude. So then 1 more question for you. Why do you keep making these threads when Singletary and Scott M. have blatantly stated that we are not pursuing Mike Vick. They stated he is NOT an option.
Maybe I'll start a thread about "Let's trade for Tom Brady". I mean, he's not an option at QB either, but we can all hope, right?

All teams aren't saying that. Green Bay isn't saying that. How bad would it look if the FO said they're not pursuing him and turned around and signed him. Logically, that doesn't make sense and would make an already skeptical fan base lose even more trust in our ownership.

But they are on the 49ers.
Every team in the NFL has a chance to pick Vick up. Why isn't he signed yet?

That's true but at some point in time we are going to need a QB so what do we do?
No matter how it turns out we must continue to try and get a franchise QB. Until then, we'll never be more than a second rate club. We must roll the dice and we have the draft choices and money to do so nexr draft.

If one of our two QBs rises to the occasion this year and proves he can lead us to the playoffs, i would say signing Vick wouldn't be needed. I'm hoping Shaun Hill continues his display of good instincts, and a knack for winning. With that being said, we would have a proven veteran Qb, and could afford using one of our two 1st round picks next year for a raw, high-potential QB. This is because that young QB would have the luxury, and ability to sit, and be groomed. Now if this year is horrific, and mainly due to the quarterback play, I would say Vick would be a great idea.
I personally don't let his past affect my opinion on him as a football player. People make mistakes, and some horrible ones. He's served 2 years in PRISON, that's tough time. Dante Stallworth KILLED A MAN while driving drunk, and with weed in his system. There's not a fraction of the outcry occuring from his actions. and he is only going to do 30 DAYS in jail. Something does not sound right there.
Vick, Gore, Morgan, Davis, and eventually Crabtree sounds like a pretty dam potent offense. I wouldn't be disappointed if we don't get him, nor would i mind if we did. Either way, this year is playoff or bust! Hands down.
