Who do you think will take a chance on this guy? if he dets traded you would probably only have to give up a 5th rounder for him,if he gets released than you can get him for little to nothing.

Nobody is going to trade for him since they're talking release.

I'd like to take a chance with him but we already have 4 QB's.

This screams of the Chad Pennington situation from last year. I hope Jackson plays well wherever he goes while Favre plays like... Favre.

Yes. I'd be happy with Hill, Jackson, and Davis in that order, but we're not going to release Smith.

I don't know why anyone would really want him, given he's been in the league for 3 full seasons and still strugles to the point the Vikings have replaced him twice now.

But Redskins make sense, since they have no faith in Cambell, and he's a FA at the end of the season. And the Rams, since Buldger is already injured.

This year they got a HOF QB who is still very much capable of playing, so you can't fault Jackson there. Last year, they came into the season with so much hype, Childress hit the panic button too early. He should have kept Jackson in, and he would have been ready for the playoffs. Instead, Gus played like the average QB he is, got injured, and Jackson came in and played well. However, he just didn’t have the game experience to be effective against the Eagles in the playoffs.

Jackson can be a good QB in the league. The big problem has been him coming from D-2 and having a coach who bailed on him too early in what should have been his second full season.

Sounds like what people say about Alex Smith too.

Sure, you have a point. But I watched a few Vikings games last season, and I thought he looked terrible. Most reports said he was struggling in this years camp. Face it, they're getting rid of him for a reason.

He was taken at the end of the 2nd round, and some had him going later, so it's not like anyone really expected him to develop into a great starter. He'll make a decent back up.

He still has a chance to put together a career; heck guys like Huard & Jammie Martian haven been in the league some 13 or so seasons without ever being reliable starters.

I still think Booty will get the boot , makes no sense to get rid of Jackson the Vikings are paying him peanuts. I see him and Sage battling for the back-up role

I hear the Vikes like him and like in Nate Davis case he can sit and learn and maybe develop into a starter or decent back-up. Plus he has Brett Favre to sit behind.

The Colts offered Sorgi a little over a million a year to not enter free agency, and he took it.

So, no, he won't play, nor are the Colts looking to replace him any time too soon.

Tavaris Jackson sucks. He cannot read defenses either and he is so unaccurate. He is like a younger version of Tony Banks but with better mobility. No thanks I'll pass.

He played very well tonight. Just when he's on the brink of being traded, Jackson steps up to the plate and shines. Threw the ball very well. It was the Chiefs, but still nice job. I think this guy has a chance, it's just that may take more time than people want to wait for.

W/o the Vikings having no real good insurance in a backup to Favre at this point why would they get rid of him that would be assanine for them to do considering that Jackson has to be better than Rosenfels and Booty right?

**** maybe its just me.......

Ness
08-21-2009, 11:45 PM
I think they should seriously keep Jackson (if they can make it right with him). If Favre can last this season (I'd be amazed..) there's no way he plays 2010 too. And Jackson has shown potential.. I'm just saying they'd be beyond screwed with Favre done and no Jackson.

Well there is Rosenfels who suits the role as backup nicely. But I really think they should keep Jackson to try and develop him for the future. He looks like he is getting better.

according to PFT, Adam Schefter reports that part of the Vikings locker room is still pushing for Tavaris Jackson to get the start over Favre

We reported in early July that members of the Vikings hoped that the team would abandon the pursuit of quarterback Brett Favre and give the ball to Tarvaris Jackson.

Moments ago, ESPN's Adam Schefter said during halftime of the Jets-Ravens game that this sentiment still exists in some corners of the Minnesota locker room.

and PFT suggests that, it's the reason why they want to trade Jackson

Not necessarily true. A team that doesnt want to be highest bigger could trade a player they will cut anyway at a position the Vikings are thin.

But yeah, no real assets moving.

Broncos seems like a good bet. That team seems destined to wander into the wilderness for a long, long time. Maybe they'll meet the Vikings on the outskirts, since the Vikings like to hang out there in their drydocked boats. They should know ahead of time, though, that the Niners are not going to share any of the secrets of how to extract water from the dry earth, or how to make fire. Those are secrets we've learned after years of wandering, and some of the very, very old among us remember the stories of when we humiliated the Donkeys in an important game, a game that has lost its name, because we're so starved. Poor, sick, sad donkeys, looking for a way home, being kicked and flea-bitten. It's going to be tough.

Some team will pick him up. The Vikings are tards, Jackson has a ton of talent, he just needs more time to improve. He performed great down the stretch to help get the Vikings into the playoffs last year going 3-1 and throwing 8 TD's to 1 INT, against Detroit, Arizona, Atlanta and NYG.

Trying to win with Favre is going to be a disaster. Not just to chemistry but because Favre is only going to get worse, and his ****ty forced throws will cost the team important games, especially come playoff time, if they even get there.

This is really reminscent of last year's Brett Favre saga. Chad Pennington ended up being cut by the Jets to make room for the drama queen, only to outperform him. Not to mention, Favre pissed of a lot of his Jets teammates with his snobbery and sense of entitlement. It's already being reported on Sportscenter that quite a few of his new Vikings teammates are less than thrilled about him being there. I'm all for T. Jackson finding a new home and outplaying that soap star(except when he plays us, of course).
