One of the best blocking fullbacks I have ever seen, recently released by the Faiders ... lets sign him to the veteran minimum ... he is better than the backup trash we have other than Norris.

agreed. Neal >>>>> Norris.

Okay, other than the fact that he is signed with the Raiders, right?

Edit: He was released by the Raiders... Nuff said...

I definitely wouldn't argue that.

Norris is really good. We wouldn't sign Neal unless we were going to cut Norris, because it would be pointless to have both.

For a franchise like the Raiders to release him, maybe he's finally too old to do it anymore. If he has anything left in the tank, I'd be interested in picking him up now and seeing if he can make a case for himself before cuts. But I'm not about to give up a very solid blocker in Norris for someone that the RAIDERS didn't feel was good enough for their team.

Part of the reason Gore is so fired up is because Norris is back. No thanks.

Norris was garbage on the 49ers in 07. Neal would be a HUGE upgrade! Frank would have a **** fit if the 49ers signed Neal!

Pretty much........I would rather stick with Norris and Miller

I definitely would like to sign Neal. i can't believe the Raiders would cut him (then again...the Raiders seem to want losers, not winners). I love that we have Norris, but we do need a backup now that Keasey is down. Lets get him! Perfect smash mouth player!

He's a 38-year-old FULLBACK...are you people high?

Seriously? Please.

He is fired up because A) we drafted his future replacement in the 3rd round and B) He wants to be great and he realizes his past 2 seasons were not that great

that's the point. Norris is a decent but not great FB. Neal is one of, if not still the best in the league.

You obviously have not been following Gore this offseason. Gore is more than excited that Norris is back.

i think they cut him mor4e so because McFadden cant follow a lead block to save his a $ $... he constantly runs into the back of his blockers. look for oak to run alot of single back sets with DMac

i like lo'neal but he is coming back from injury. didn't pay much attn to him in the 1st game but have to say i'd question if he has the endurance to go 16 games as a banger at this point. in short he's not a need player and there's no reason to sign him just yet

You are acting like Frank Gore is a school girl. He doesn't need Norris around hsi hip to be motivated, if you believe that, you're a moron. These are NFL football players looking, grown men.

Now STFU you school girl!

Forget Neal. Let him sit at home. I don't see how he can help the team. No room for 2 blocking backs and Niners/Gore prefer someone younger.

SERIOUSLY? **** you must know Frank and talk to him daily to know his thoughts that well huh? Let me take a stab at it then. How bout Frank knows his job isn't in danger to Coffee. How bout Frank is excited to have Norris back because he credits him for a lot of the success he had in 06. Yes, Frank wants to be great, so don't discredit him as this being the only year he's ever played 'hungry.'

Frank sees a lot of things worth being excited about, and he views himself as a leader of the team. How bout you quit acting like he's only playing for himself.

...see I can act like I know what he's thinking too!

Neal has told jay glazer that he has injured his hamstring and is not sure what he wants to do. http://twitter.com/Jay_Glazer

I like it... we can have the first wildcat goalline formation. Neal and Norris in the backfield, and direct snap to Robinson.....

Jimmy Raye would call it the "beanbag shotgun" formation

I don't understand this boards obsession with M. Rob - what the heck has he done for us that everyone is all over his nuts?

If I had a roster spot - I'd give it to Lorenzo Neal who can teach Norris something. How many times in a game do we even use a fullback to carry the rock anyway? 1 or 2? thats just my opinion

its not the cutting robinson part i disagree with. id rather use a roster spot on a corner, DL, or WR. someone who will have more of an impact than a backup fullback

Why would we carry two blocking fullbacks and waste a roster space? Michael Robinson is our best special teams player and a decent third down receiving back.

A full back's main job is not to carry the ball, it's to take on blockers for the RB.

Still, I don't think Neal has much left in the tank, and we're not exactly in need of another FB.

Neal was one of the best, no doubt. But he's 38, and I think at this point, Norris is gonna be the better guy. I mean, we know how stupid the Raiders are.. but he must not be too great if they cut him already.

as i said he came off being injured late last year and someone else pointed out his hammy injury this week so why is there still a debate on this?

Maybe he is too old now, but Neal is the best blocking FB I have ever seen.
