View Full Version : Cutler or Crabtree

The Chicago Bears now have a QB - the first quarter and a half Cutler's throws were on target. When the play wasnt there he scrambled to gain yards or just got rid of the ball by throwing it at the feet of his RBs. The bears offense looked like it was on kill through the 1st half of the game.
The 9ers would sacrifice Crabtree and McKillop - ok McKillop might be something in the future but Crabtree is not helping anyone and quite frankly I do not think he would help out the 9ers as much as a good QB would.
I also understand its preseason and defenses and offense play vanilla flavored ball but still - a pass on the money just about each and every time to a bunch of no name receivers impressed the hell out of me tonight.
Hindsight is 20/20 but right now I wish the 9ers would of went the Cutler route

Cutler is garbage. I'd say we go all in for Philip Rivers next offseason. If he is franchised, we make a deal without any hesitation.

and Crabtree is not?

What?! But you have Chase Daniels and Colt Brennen. Why on Earth would you need Rivers?

Campbell for Hill and it's a deal.

I doubt the Chargers are going to let Rivers go. They will do whatever they have to do, to hold on to their young franchise QB.

I am with you on this one. The guy is a leader, he's got fire, and he's accurate. I don't understand how this guy continues to get overlooked.

Because the media portrays him as a "bully". Which in the NFL or the sport of football in general is absurd.

I can't figure out what you're trying to say here. Are you suggesting that we trade Crabtree and McKillop for the guy the Bears just sold the farm for? Or, are you saying we should have pulled the trigger before the Bears did?
On top of the confusing post, you seem to be confused on what the compensation was. CHI traded away a starting QB, this year's first and 3rd rounders, and next year's 1st rounder. I don't see how that adds up to Crabtree and McKillop.

You think that little of Campbell? With the same OC 2 years in a row for the first time, this might be his year.

It's funny. I started the Rivers thread without reading this one. And this one is from yesterday. I just read it just now. Fans DO think alike sometimes.
Too bad it will never happen.

You think that little of Campbell? With the same OC 2 years in a row for the first time, this might be his year. I'm not holding my breath. He could be the guy, but mentally he just seems to hold himself back. He's always a half-second late on deep balls or in the red zone because he's afraid to pull the trigger and take the chance. He's got the physical abilities to do anything he wants as a QB in this league, but if he doesn't take that next mental step this year he'll be starting for the Raiders next season.
And you're right- I wouldn't want Hill. If you guys still had JTO, then we'd be talking.

yes
we should've gone after Cutler
but no:
it's not a matter of Cutler vs. Crabtree + McKillop
it would've more like Cutler vs. Crabtree + Coffee + next year's first + Shaun Hill maybe?
but Cutler is a top 5 or 6 QB, and would've been a huge upgrade over Hill/Smith
I would give up Crabtree for a young pro bowl QB any day without hesitation.
Rivers, Cutler, whoever... I wish we would have gone after Jay; most of the complaints about his attitude were based on his reactions to being treated like a scrub. I don't think he's the kind of guy who goes around making trouble or being a locker room distraction; he just wants to be regarded as an elite QB. If there is any possibility of getting Rivers I hope we go for it. Otherwise I'm down for looking at Jimmy Clausen as a potential future franchise QB... Kid has all the tools to become a star.

actually you figured out what i was trying to say and so did others - i meant before the bears did
the bears will not trade him away but when the chance was there i think the 9ers should of acted - especially since crabtree is threatening to not join the team (who knows he could be that stupid)
so the 9ers trade smith or hill or both - would it matter?
two first rounders - ok our first this year is being a diva just because of what mel kiper thought - no help here
and the 9ers will have Carolina's first rounder so would the organization really lose out? IMO no - in fact i think they would of been better off letting crabtree hold out for another team and 9ers would of found a solid qb - something they do not have right now
