Hi guys,
I've been a Niner fan since I was little and I'm FINALLY going to a game. I've never been to San Francisco either so it's going to be a first time thing all around. I'll be hitting the Rams game in 2 weeks on Oct 4th. I've read a lot that the Stick is horrible as far as parking / lines / etc. I'm flying up there and I won't have a car. I'm staying at a hotel on Lombard street so I was wondering if you guys had any advice on the cheapest / most efficient way to get to the Stick, what time I should leave to make sure I'm there nice and early, etc.
Thanks for any help guys and gals

Here's the info for taking public transportation to the Stick:
http://www.sfmta.com/cms/mroutes/3comsvc.htm
Not sure how much a taxi would be, but it might be pricey considering you are coming all the way from the other side of town.
Hope you have a good stay in SF!!

If you are staying on Lombard, you are all the way across town almost to the Bay...without a car, you may be in dire straits...a cab will be too expensive...are you going to be going back to Lombard AFTER the game???...that could also cause you problems because traffic is really bad around the Stick after a game and for a stranger to get around can be daunting...maybe you should solicit someone who lives in the North to pick you up and then drop you off after the game....compensation would be a must for this...good luck...ask around,

Well this doesn't sound too promising. I'll be going back to Lombard eventually but it doesn't have to be right after the game is over

i think the best way is to check the muni website to see where they have shuttles at. for example i sometimes catch BART to Balboa Station and then Catch a shuttle from this station to the game. You pay a fee and that includes a shuttle to the game and from the game back to the bart station. Since there are multiple locations where there are Muni shuttles that take you to the game, you should check which one is closet to your hotel stay. Just make sure you go to the stadium super in advance and to enjoy the game. I would leave the hotel like at 8 or 9am. Have fun! Lots of fun! trust me

Yeah I was looking at those shuttles, hopefully I'll be able to figure something out without stressing about it too much. 8AM for a 1PM game? Geezus that brutal. Thanks though.

When? Where are you staying? For how long? Will you have a car? What kinda stuff do you like best? How many people/kids? There are some sites that are necessary to visit. (Golden Gate Bridge, Transamerica Pyramid or B. of A building for view ect..) Narrow it down a little, eh! <blue> means sarcasm on the board..Welcome!!
If you will have a car, you MUST tailgate too..

--I would seriously think about renting a car. While the Stick is close to the SFO, it's pretty far away to the sites of downtown. You can get there, especially since you'll have time on your hands..But it would take some time..The only way I can think of you can tailgate w/o car is to hook up with Club 49's BBQ (Which IS a great party; I pass them every week and it smells great guys!) Plus this way you can meet up with some die hards..You can PM them from this board..
--Since the wife's with you, she would love downtown. Pier 39, G G Bridge, Ghiradelli Square; chocoholics paradise, Union Square to shop, Fisherman's Wharf; You can buy crab and have it mailed home..awesome! Great chowder in a bread boule.
Coit Tower, Transamerica Building or the Bank of Am. building (I think they still have a sight seeing deck towards top; if its a clear day view is freakin awesome!) Alcatraz tour is alright; some love it some say ehhhhhh..The thing about most these sites is they are within a walking distance or a cable car ride away; another thing you should definitly do..Just bring some comf. shoes & jacket..
