OK, its time to get off the TO headlines (I doubt it), but does anyone remember Bill Romanowski? Yeah that steroid taking, cheapshot taking, and spitting in the face football player is in the news again.....
here is a brief part of the article:
Bill Romanowski's NFL career is over, but his self-control near a football field doesn't appear to be any better than it was during his playing days. Romanowski -- you might remember him as the guy who broke Raiders teammate Marcus Williams' eye socket with a punch at practice in 2003 -- was considered a dirty player by many during his 16 seasons as an NFL linebacker

I don't know about you, but I would have a problem having him coaching kids with his past history.....He sounds like a hypocrite telling kids not to do alot of the things he did in the NFL...not a good role model IMO...

Did he try to commit suicide, too?
Did he choke a girl on his boat?
None of these folks deserve a front-page spread. They just aren't newsworthy, unless you like watching a train-wreck in slow motion...

I saw a 1-hour interview of him on HDNet. He talks like he understands all he'
s done wrong, but he may just be inerested in selling his suppliments. If I was a coach and saw ANY player tripping someone, I'd scold them, too! The media likes to build up simple things as much as they can.

Its obviously clear you have clue what your spouting off here. My wife is a social worker, and hopes to one day work with the substance abuse program. See, she hopes to one get on because no one will hire her cause shes never dealt with being an addict. Most of your best councelors have had their demons and successfully fought them off. Bill has done the same in his life, and by judging him in his 60 minutes interview the othernite, Id guess that hes learned from it. By being the guy who totally screwed up, Id say hes the prime example and role model for those kids.
I wish I could only be as perfect as you so that I too could live in a glass house.

"Remember to dope up before the game kids! Also, if you're going to use 'the clear', rub it into your thighs so that your parents won't notice. Now let's go out there and tear the heads off of those mother ****ers!!! Oh yeah, and one last thing. If you're in a dogpile, gouge the other kids eyes out and squeeze his privates! YEaargH!!!!"
Note: The "YEaargH!!!!" at the end of Romo's pre-game speech is similar to Howard Dean's 'YEaargH!!!!'.

dude just giving my opinion...dont get all high and mighty with your cynical tone , I have a brother who just fell off the wagon with drugs and alchohol and recently he tried to committ suicide, so my life is defintely not looking out from a glass house. Just giving my opinion from following his career. Maybe give him a job with some older kids who are less impressionable...thats the point I was trying to make...

The guy is a roided up jerk. Cant say I minded who he did it to but does anyone remember this guy spitting on Stokes?
Totaly classless, I'm almost ashamed to have had him as a Niner which is a real loss too because he was pretty **** good when he was in San Fran.

He was pretty good during his tenure with the 49ers, although he never made the probowl, he was a reliable member of the team. I remember the news when i was a kid watching games with my dad that he got in a fight with o linemen Harris Barton after giving Jerry Rice a hard tackle, i think it was 1990? not sure.... also remember that JJ Stokes incident when he spat in his face.

Not a crime at all!
I just think these guys get too much attention, is all. They get a reputation, and then they can't behave in certain human ways without people pulling out their hair and freaking out.
It's like that lady with the Presa Canarios and the lady with the Pitbulls. Now whenever someone sees my dog, they're all freaked out. I"s he a pitbull?" "Will he murder me?" No. He's not. No. He won't.
If I were Romanowski, I'd be disappointed and saddened by the extraordinary level of fear people show. It's just like Bowling for Columbine, man. Everyone be scared! He's a lunatic!
I guarantee you that if you act like he's a lunatic, and you convince yourself that he's a lunatic, all you're going to see is lunacy.
All I see is a guy reprimanding a kid for playing dirty football.

its 7th grade kids were talking about not high school or college kids...the kids are still very impressionable at that age....dont make it more complicated that what it is..and he thought he saw a kid tripping someone, the article didnt say it was a intentional trip or even it was a dirty play in question. All it said is that he yelled at a kid for what he thought was tripping...maybe he was roid raging we don't know...
here is a quote from the article:
Now, he's coaching his son's flag-football team in Piedmont, where he got in hot water by scolding a seventh-grader from the opposition from Lafayette last week. Romanowski's problem? He thought that player tripped one of the Piedmont players
Please read more carefully before you jump the gun on what I'm trying to interpret in posting this article....and don't give me that lame excuse of the media twisting it around, that's a weak excuse for something that doesnt happen as much as you like to think....

Do you know anything about Bill Romanowski ? He is known for being dirty, out of control and a bad guy to be around. He destroyed his teammates face on the Raiders so bad the guy can't ever play ball again. He is known for takin it waaaaaay too far. And I'm sure he did more than just "scold" another player. Romanowski is one of those guys that you can't really put anything past him doing.
People see a lunatic because he IS a lunatic. Your tryin to make it seem as if he's this poor, misunderstood guy who means really well and is gettin crucified by the media.
I guess we should let all the murderers and rapists of the world out onto the streets, because there reputation means nothin, its our fault for worrying too much about what has happened before.

as long as someone acknowledges and is apologetic of their past actions why not give them a chance to redeem themselves in life?
