For Jake Delhomme(notes) and the Carolina Panthers, last year’s NFC South title couldn’t seem further away. After opening the 2009 season with a 38-10 drubbing at the hands of the Philadelphia Eagles – during which Delhomme tossed a meager 73 yards and a whopping four interceptions – the team is off to an 0-3 start.
Unfortunately for Carolina fans, it’s not likely to get easier. The Panthers top our list of the NFL’s toughest schedules, or those with the hardest road to the playoffs, sharing the ignominious title – and the bottom rung of the NFC South – with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who also have yet to win a game this season.
“Neither is a very good team on the field – both have serious turnover problems, and as we all know, that leads to losing,” says Marc Ganis, president of the consulting outfit Sportscorp. “They do have a tough schedule. … It’s very hard to envision them turning things around.”

Indeed, the last four games of the Panthers’ season are against the New England Patriots, the Minnesota Vikings, the New York Giants and the New Orleans Saints – all of whom rank among the NFL’s top teams, according to our analysis. The Bucs play four of their last seven games against the supercharged offenses of the Saints and the Atlanta Falcons.
Good news for us. :ahhaha:
