The latest issue of Sports Illustrated has a picture of Sharper clearly losing the ball with his back foot on the 2 yard line, clearly a full yard behind the pylon with the ball loose. He ends up fumbling into the endzone. By rule, that would be Dolphin's ball at their 20. They'd maintain their 24-10 lead a minute into the second half.

The ref has a perfect view of it! I believe the play was reviewed and they still ruled it a TD.

The Saints won by doubt digits. I didn't get to watch the whole game, was it a big game changer?

Was the play reviewed? I dont know.
I just find it funny how people with HD and super slow mo cameras try to pretend like calls are so easy to make. This call for example forgets to mention it was an INT and the ref had to sprint down the field in order to stay with the play and some of the best athletes in the world. I somewhat doubt he had alot of time to stop and get his bearing to make the perfect call.

Ok, did not know that part. I didn't know what part of the game it was at. That is a big difference though. Possibly driving to go up 17 or even 21 pts and all of a sudden it becomes a 7 pt game. Huge momentum swing. I have no idea how the refs still got the play wrong if it was reviewed after seeing this picture.

I edited my post to explain the situation better.
The double digit win was because of a desperation throw on 4th down by Henne which resulted in a pick 6. Score's a little misleading.

That is true. Terrible call by the refs if they reviewed it. If it was never reviewed, it can be a tough call to make live I am sure.

Who cares either way?
if you want to argue this then you have to concede that our last second victory over the Packers in 1998 was cheap because Jerry Rice OBVIOUSLY fumbled on the last drive and the Packers recovered..but he was ruled down by contact..and thre wasnt replay.
Either way, the dolphins are still in the WC hunt, arent going to win the division, and the saints are still the most dominant team in the NFC...
this didnt change anything for the course of the season .

I just watched the highlights and in it, Eisen mentions it was reviewed.

Just because it went in our favor doesn't mean it's ok..
Dolphins are 2-4 now. Their season's pretty much over. This would've been a huge win.

If you are a team whose season is pretty much over after 6 games, then you are not a good enough team to have made it in the first place.
If you are 3-3..or 2-4 and have what it takes then you will find a a way to get there.

If the Dolphins end up 9-7, a game short of a WC spot, I'll bump this thread up and yell at you. I don't think they'll come that close but it's an unfortunate call nonetheless.

While I agree that it is obvious it was a bad call, the Dolphins still had a 7 point lead at half. Its not like this call decided the game. The Saints did still make a great comeback.

If they can pull off 7-3 they can manage 8-2

If you look at the Dolphins schedule you can pretty much see that the one win wont make a difference in the end.

Yes. But I also think the refs have a to to deal with that you cant get on them for this. Yeah, the ref was in position but no one is perfect.

Exactly..one thing that is pathetic about the sports fan is that they are the first to crucify a ref for a mistake "moreso than a player does"...they are the first to crucify a coach, a player or the management...but you put any of the fans in any of those positions and they would be a complate waste of space.
Its easy to be an expert from behind a television.

did that read i.d.i.o.t?
I didnt realize this was a dolphins board...and I didnt realize that niners fans were compassionate towards the dolphins.
so with that being said.
Who, that matters, cares?
Maybe if Ted Ginn could catch they wouldn't have to ***** about 1 bad call

Funny how the refs missing calls in the Angels series was nothing but now against the Phillies it's a big deal.

That one is pretty blatant, but calls get botched EVERY game.

Thats just nonsense. It was a huge deal when they were botched in the Angles series, heck ESPN ran segment after segment on the specific botched calls.
The only reason it wasn't a huge deal was the botched calls didn't really equate to runs to they were essentially inconsequential to the outcome of the game.

Maybe it's because the replay cameras aren't the ones that took that shot. Had the Dolphins not rolled over and died in the second half, it wouldn't have been an issue anyway. Saints were just too good. :truck:

To be fair, I am still mad at the Don Beebee play. And that was BEFORE instant replay
