Got us taking either Dwayne Jarret or Teddy Ginn in the top 10 when guys like Gaines Adams Brandon Merriweather Laron Landry are there........It doesnt make sense our offense is much improved but we need a stud DE like Adams or a S like Landry or Merriweather..........I get frustrated seeing Teddy Ginn as our pick i like him but hes not our top need :pullhair:

i think if Gaines Adams comes to our team and plays OLB as he only weighs 265 lbs. it has yet to be seen if he has fluent hips enough to make the switch.
Douglas, Marques DE 6-2 280
Adams, Gaines DE 6-5/260 if he can put on 15 pounds of muscle in the offseason keep him at DE hes a good pass rusher no need to make him a LB

That wouldn't work though. D-linemen in the 3-4 just need to eat up blockers and Gaines is a pass-rusher, so he would have to play OLB.

so if we were to draft him now and move him to LOLB would he have to shed pounds or gain them?

Probably neither. His weight seems fine to me.

Nolan's philosophy is to draft the best talent availble and I think that is genious. Clearly we won't draft Brady Quinn since we have Alex Smth, but that is no the case at any other position besides maybe TE. Having said that if we get a chance to get someone like a Calvin Johnson or Adrian Peterson, we should take it b/c they are the most talented players, even though defense is more of a need.
We however will probably go defense this draft and even though we need a DE, in my opinion the only 2 high 1st rounders will be Quinton Moses and Gaines Adams, neither of which are exacly 3-4 DE and in my opinion neither of which will be GREAT, only good. I want to draft players that will make pro bowls in 2-3 years and ultimately be great, and those type of players in this years draft on the defensive side are availble at the safety postions. Landry and Marriweather are both going to be great players. If they aren't available then I think that we should go CB.

One of the smartest ideas yet... Marriweather and Landry, are both studs; however, merriweather IMO is a gamble while Landry is more of a sure thing. Adams and Moses ARE NOT 3-4 LINEMEN!!!!!! They are good players at best and in a 3-4 defense they are average players and average players are not 1st round worthy. I still believe that we will draft Calvin Johnson simply because our offense is 2 or 3 pieces and about 2 years away from being really really good maybe even great while our defense has 2 maybe 3 players at most that we can build around(Lawson, Spencer, and Haralson). If we can solitify our offense then at least we can compete, hey i mean look at the colts.

well Douglas hasnt been anything special and I dont believe Gaines can play the DE in a 3-4, douglas does an ok job. I wanna see the 9ers take a play out of the Chargers book and get some 300 lbs pass rusing DT's converted to DE

Well... at the beginning of the season, I would have said the choice could go either way, between WR and Defense, but our WR's have actually looked pretty good this year, and I don't think we are in desperate need of one. Plus Steve Smith will be around in the 2nd or 3rd round.

If I had my choice, I'd go with Landry. I wanna say Patrick Willis, as I've heard great things, but I haven't seen him play really to comment on that.
