One of my online betting accoutns was just closed out of the blue because of the new anti betting legislation.

I've gotta call them later to find out what happened to my account balance (thankfully there wasn't much in there).

In the meantime I drastically reduced the fund in my other accounts just in case.

Thanks Bush!

They are just doing this through credit cards right? there is a site that my friend has benn using that uses the routing numbers from a checking account that he opened and the money goes back and forth that way like bamk transactions. This is a lone account for gambling only and not his personal one just in case of any funny business. He has been using it for two years with no problems........

Nope Bush just signed a law that is shutting down money transfer sites like firepay that take your checking account info and send cash to gambling sites.

Some sites are supposedly fighting it (or at least not enacting it yet.) This site that shut down all US customers www.sportingbet.com is pretty big (traded on the london stock exchange) I've been with em 7 or 8 years. They've been great over the years. I need to see if they're gonna send me a check for my balance.

Dayum that sucks. He was using betonsports.com. I can still bet on football if I cross the border to Oregon, but they are getting rid of gambling on sports so they can have Fianl Fours and other events in Portland (They can't have them now because of the gambling). :madgal:

Subject : New FirePay policy for US account holders

SUBJECT: New FirePay policy for US account holders

On September 30, 2006, the United States Congress passed the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006.

Once President Bush approves the Act. FirePay (www.firepay.com) will no longer allow US consumer payments for online gambling merchants.

* Beginning the day President Bush signs the Act, FirePay will decline any purchase transactions from US FirePay account holders at any gambling merchant site.
* Ten days after President Bush signs the Act, FirePay will decline any transfer attempt made by any online gambling merchant to a US FirePay account.

All US FirePay accounts holders will continue to be able to make purchases and receive payments from non-gambling, online merchants, as well as “Deposit From” and “Withdraw To” their US bank account.

Click here for the latest news and opportunities for FirePay account holders.

** Please note:

1. This new policy will not affect FirePay account holders from outside of the United States

2. For any questions regarding these deadlines or policy, please email info@firepay.com

Sincerely,
FirePay

I dislike Bush as much as anybody, but it's hardly just this administration. And it doesn't stop with your money.

By admistration I mean Congress and everybody. Why should they decide what I spend my money on??? And I know it doesn't just stop with my money. The Constitution is being used as a piece of toilet paper right now. And these arseholes have the balls to mandate a "Constitution Day," in public schools. They want us to celebrate it, but don't really follow it. That is BfunkinS........:nonono:

Looks like sportingbet is working out a payment system to pay all their US customers. I'm sure they'd be facing some legal issues if they just kept it.

Kinda sucks cause I had a couple long term bets (chargers to win the superbowl and niners to win 5 or more games) that would have paid nice if they came through, but I'll take the original wager amount instead.

Yep. This would be the place. More GOP involvement in people's lives telling them how to spend their money. Not very conservative.

It was just a political trap in the event that some dem would have stood up against it, and his opponent in november could then make a commercial about how he wanted to have good hardworking americans addicted to gambling.

Of course. nobody bit on it. Nobody wants to stand up for internet gambling at the risk of looking bad in an attack ad. SO this stupid legislation went right through.

One good loophole, you can still make money playing fantasy football. For some reason it's ok to make cash on fantasy football using your football knowledge, but making cash using your poker knowledge is illegal. Makes no sense to me at all.

IK'd pull any extra cash you have out of both the funding site and the gambling site ASAP.

Keep enough in there to play with if you want to risk it, but don't leave any excess winings in if you don't have to.
