This dumb*** just lost some draft stock. He was clearly caught on tape with 5 other guys stomping on one guy. I hope we draft no one from the U the whole team as got character issues to say the least. His off the wishlist.

Was never a guy I was interested in to begin with. Now maybe the people that just read draft pages, and don't actually watch football will hop off his jock too.

I'll take him in the 4th or 5th round.

Are you joking he is still a 1st round talent and will still go in the first round.

While I didn't like what happened I think that after the fight the 49ers want Merriweather even more........b/c we won't have to trade up as high in order to get him, and he is still an unbelievable talent. Imagine getting him with the 28-32 pick, instead of the 22 like we had to do with Manny.

All i'm saying is he would help our team, and now we won't have to trade up as high if we want to get him in the late first.

My guess is you haven't watched him play this year. He does not look like a 1st round (never did IMO), and the brawl with further hurt his stock. He'll go to the Bungles or Raiders in the 3rd.

Of course, he's a first round talent, that's not even up for debate. What I'm sayin is with all these owners scared to death about "character issues", we could take another player in the first round and STILL pick him up later on b/c no one is gonna use a 1st round pick on him. I would definitely take him with a 3rd round pick, and I'm not sayin this because I think he's not 1st- 2nd round talent, but because he'll be around later.

I would love to have Meriwether on our team. Character issues are overrated unless those issues involve being lazy and not trying hard. Half the guys in the pro-bowl every year have something that can be considered character issues, and if they don't its because we haven't found out about them.

Your kidding right? He'll go in the first round after this? I like him a bunch and would now love to see him picked up in the 3rd or 4th for the Niners, but if Ahmad Brooks goes in the third for his transgressions with no other viable player for teams to look at in the supplemental draft ,how the heck do you expect Merriwether not to completely fall out of the first day with every other college prospect in the pool with him? Not to metion the fact that he now will be without half a seasons worth of game tape and virtually no chance of going into the combine (assuming he is invited) in playing shape.

I agree mostly, this year he has been lackluster at best, however I did feel lastyear he would be a first rounder after he progressed all season long. Alas he's now a mere afterthought and should be.

in this day and age you dont have to play like a first rounder to be one. all you have to have is size speed and a good showing in an all star game and you'll be a rich man. Merriweather isnt going to lose very much draft stock at all. He'll still be one of the first five guys drafted out of the secondary because he's a tremendous athlete that has some good film in a huge conference behind him.

Yeah, but we've also seen how character issues can drop a guy like Jimmy Williams out of the first round. I think Meriweather will drop, and I'd love to pick him up in the second round.

Because of that incident, I wouldn't expect to draft him at all. Nolan doesn't like guys with bad character(and dont mention AB, nolan obviously talked to him personally and made sure his past was behind him). I'd expect meriweather to drop to the 3rd or even 4th....we've seen guys with heavy character problems drop like crazy, like claude wroten and marcus vick. I mean the guy can be seen on video stomping on the other player....nobodies going to spend a first rounder and millions of dollars ona guy like that.

Merriweather will go on the first day (assuming no other incidents) without doubt.

Care to wager??

Loser has to put anything the winner wants in his sig for a year.

Frank Gore is from the U and played with a lot of the guys that are still there.

Nah i think late first day is about right, I'd bet he wont be taken in the first two rounds but not the third. Too many teams have shown an ability to overlook issues just to get the "talent" on the roster.

People don't think he will be a 1st rounder b/c miami sucks this years, but based on just his talents he is a first rounder. Like 2 weeks ago Mike Mayock from NFL network not only had him as a 1st rounder, but at the #1 safety in college football. He will have a good combine and still be a 1st rounder. Teams overlook character issues when it comes to talented players. He might go in the second round at the latest ala Winston Justice. Overall if we got him late that would be pretty cool, b/c our safety position is non existant.
