I found this little blurb on the Patriots website. It talks about Brooks. You will also notice that draft is in July again.
"The bottom line is the Patriots linebacking corps is pretty much the same now as it was before the draft started. One name to look watch out for is former Virginia linebacker Ahmad Brooks. Brooks was considered a top prospect going into his junior year but a subpar, injury-riddled season hurt his draft stock. He’s since been kicked off the Cavalier football team and is expected to enter the supplemental draft in July. Brooks played for Al Groh at Virginia – who runs a 3-4 defense similar to the Patriots - so there’s a possibility he’ll end up in New England."

What's the draft order? It would be nice if we could get first dibs on Brooks.

Same as the regular.
That mean's there's 5 other teams that will most likely grab him before we get a chance too.

There are alot of questions about his work out habits, I doubt we would give him anymore than a third or fourth for him.

I heard that in order to take a player in the supplemental, you have to give up that rounds pick in the next years real draft. Like if we drafted him in the 3rd, we would lose our 3rd round pick next season in the real draft.
Because of that, the draft order wont really matter, nobody will take him in the first and it'll all depend on whos willing to give up the most to take him. I'd take him in third if we could.

Brooks would be a player to definitely look at. Before his injuries and declining status he was touted as a Ray Lewis type LB that fit in the 3-4 scheme. Size, speed, agressiveness that can hit, but since he has been injured and been dismissed from Virginia his stock shouldn't be 2 high. I don't see him going in the 1st, and he might be a reach even in 2nd or 3rd rounds, but if we can give up a 4th or 5th in the supplemental draft than I would do it.
And to answer the question NinerPheen, Yes we would have to give up the pick we use in the supplemental draft in next years draft. Which ever round it is.

I'd offer up the redskins fourth from the Lloyd trade no more. I think He'll go in round 2 but maybe we get lucky. If it were the case, can you imagine the egg on Snyders head when its realized for Blloyd and the #37 overall we landed Lawson and Brooks.........that would be a major pat on the back of Nolan and Co.
