"There's a shining moment". Alright so that program "America's Game" is going to be on NFL Network in November. Counting down the greatest Superbowl team of all time. My question is, who do you think is the greatest Superbowl team? I'm going with the 1989 San Francisco 49ers.

1994 Niners were pretty impressive.....
- Steve Young, Deion Sanders, Ricky Waters, John Taylor, Jerry Rice, Brent Jones, Bryant Young, Dana Stubblefield, Jesse Sapolu, Ken Norton, Lee Woodall, Eric Davis, Merton Hanks, etc..etc....

I love NFL Films. They make these teams out to be war heroes or something.
Yeah, but that was a free agent thing/money team. Actually, the 2005 Pittsburgh Steelers can make a strong case two. Three straight raod wins in the playoffs and then winning the Superbowl. Not too bad.
I don't really see how you can make a case for them. Three road wins is very impressive but the teams they beat don't really impress me so much. I don't think they belong in the conversation with the '85 Bears, '94 49ers, '92 Cowboys etc...

The only thing that may bother me about this list is people are too sensitive to the present and can overshadow the past.
We know the recent Patriots run will be in there in some form. But, will it be properly put in the right spot? Or, will it be overhyped because it just happened and we remember that more clearly than we may teams from decades ago? This could also apply to the 2005 Steelers, if they're even selected.
Personally, I go by the five-year rule. Anytime you talk "best ever" you need to eliminate anything that has happened in the last five years. Then you can let time pass and put things in proper perspective. If you still think something is really awesome five years after the fact, then it's likely legit.
Also... unless I missed it, some will say the 84 Niners was the best team, so how's come no one mentions them in the same breath as the 89 and 94 Niners?

I don't think any of the patriot teams can be included(and this is coming from a guy that LOVES tom brady)...They never dominated the superbowl the way the other teams did(like cowboys over bills, or niners crushing the broncos..etc). Although, their 2004 teams was really impressive.

Personally, I really can't see how at least one of the 49ers teams doesn't make the top SB team.
However, due to East Coast bias, I can see the 49ers getting screwed for the 85 Bears, or one of the few Giants wins.
