What he did there isn't throwing on the run.

its throwing while moving horizontally at a quicker pace than walking or shuffling.

the important thing is he generated momentum and had to throw while moving. most of the time when a QB "throws on the run" he ends up slowing down to about the same pace as smith was before they release it (ie stutter steps)

At a quicker pace than walking or shuffling but not quite jogging?

When I spoke of throwing on the run I was thinking of when Smith bolts from the pocket and customarily runs out of bounds...that kind of running. Smith would get real dangerous fast if he learned to locate downfield receivers and throw to them as Montana used to do. Well maybe not quite like Montana but you get the idea. I just want to see Smith try it sometimes.

I admit that play to Gore was a good play on Smith's part though. He was able to put mustard and accuracy on the throw while going down.

Of course he's got a ways to go, he basically played a season and a half, and then sat out for 2 seasons.

Developing into a contender baby...I only hope our team is worthy of him.

Dan Marino couldn't throw on the run to save his life, and Peyton Manning isn't known for it either. And you are a moron.

Fair, level-headed assessment.

If I remember correctly Urban Meyer said the same thing way back when Smith was drafted.

ps and seeing smitty play like i have always wanted him too is very nice!!
It would be nice to use those two 1st rounder to get an impact OT and passrusher/safety.

I think he's right. He looks so much more comfortable out there than he ever has. I laugh at everyone that has a Alex failed again sig

No, but both had adeptness at moving in the pocket, a sick sense regarding the rush. Smith doesn't have that. Dan Marino had the quickest release in the business. Manning is blessed with an uncanny awareness and super accurate arm, at least on most Sundays. Smith is nowhere near either of them in those respects. You like other Smith jock sniffers here are premature. You want to label Smith a Franchise Quarterback based on what Marino and Manning didn't or don't ussually do? Why don't you think for a minute what Marino and Manning DO, or DID, compare THAT to Smith and then get back to me, moron.
