We traded many of our picks for another bust, JJ Stokes.

But the 1997 draft sure has plenty of competition in terms of the benefit these players had to our organization:

2002, only worthwhile player is Eric Heitmann a 7th round pick!!
1 1 27 27 Mike Rumph DB Miami (FL)
2 3 4 69 Saleem Rasheed LB Alabama
3 4 4 102 Jeff Chandler K Florida
4 4 29 127 Kevin Curtis DB Texas Tech
5 5 28 163 Brandon Doman QB Brigham Young
6 5 37 172 Josh Shaw DT Michigan State
7 6 29 201 Mark Anelli TE Wisconsin
8 7 28 239 Eric Heitmann G Stanford
9 7 38 249 Kyle Koiser G Arizona State
10 7 45 256 Teddy Gaines DB Tennessee

2001, again, only player still with us is a 7th round pick!
1 1 7 7 Andre Carter DE California
2 2 16 47 Jamie Winborn LB Vanderbilt
3 3 18 80 Kevan Barlow RB Pittsburgh
4 6 6 169 Cedrick Wilson WR Tennessee
5 6 16 179 Rashad Holman DB Louisville
6 6 28 191 Menson Holloway DE Texas-El Paso
7 7 9 209 Alex Lincoln LB Auburn
8 7 24 224 Eric Johnson TE Yale

99 wasn't so hot either

1 1 24 24 Reggie McGrew DT Florida
2 3 28 89 Chike Okeafor DE Purdue
3 4 4 99 Anthony Parker DB Weber State
4 4 15 110 Pierson Prioleau DB Virginia Tech
5 5 24 157 Terry Jackson RB Florida
6 5 28 161 Tyrone Hopson G Eastern Kentucky
7 6 2 171 Tai Streets WR Michigan
8 7 28 234 Kory Minor LB Notre Dame

This is the biggest reason why we fell from the top of the NFL to the bottom. The draftees from the 2002 and 2003 years were supposed to be experienced veterans by now. In those years, we had to cut our star players for salary cap reasons and replaced them with poor draft choices. Hope that is behind us now. We'll keep rebuilding and get better.
