I guess that it doesn't really matter, but I was thinking they are going to trade back in the draft. Why would they want to keep the 7th pick. They need to draft 2 impact ILB, and CB They are going to want to keep Moss and can't afford to drop a bunch of money on the 7th pick.
It seems they ALWAYS find players to plug into there scheme and they always pan out. Since this Draft seems to be a great year for Defense I see them droping back late in the first rd and grabing and extra 3rd or possibly a 2nd if they can pkg Stallworth with it. You guys think that if a player (hopefully a stud DE-DT is there at that spot we could pull the trigger and move up and swap 1st rd picks and possibly get stallworth and give up our 3rd rd. I think Stallworth would be the homerun threat at WR we are looking for, and would do well in our offense. Im not sure the terms of the values or really how they rate the point system for picks but I just see N.E. really trying to upgrade their aging Defense. LB espeically. And wanting out of that 7th pick overall. any thoughts.

I hear ya but, he is such a playmaker and so dangerous. It would take some pressure off V.D. and Gore. Martz will be able to do more things with his speed. It does bother me about his hamstrings, but if he can do what he did in philly, we will win more games. This is all hypothtical anyways but just trying to think outside the box. We need playmakers BAD. on BOTH sides of the ball. DE, and WR. VD cant do it by himself.

The rest of you post (the part that includes Stallworth) is both literally impossible, and even if it were possible, it'd make no sense. Stallworth is a FA, he can't be traded. End of story. Even if he could be (which there's no way he could, but hypathetically), dropping back far enough in the draft with us would at least get them our second, without Stallworth. There is no way that we'd get Stallworth and #7 for our #29 and our third. Heck, DET got CLEs second for moving back only a couple spots in the first a few years back. As for Stallworth in general, I really like our chances with Lelie rather than sign what would be the top WR FA. Lelie, when used correctly, is an extremely dangerous deep threat, ask BAL. He was the only WR we had that they were worried about, and were relieved when we never used him. Basically, Lelie, with his smaller cap hit is much more bang-for-your-buck than Stallworth and a new rather large-sized contract. In the end, NE trading down is a large possibility. Trading that pick with Stallworth or just adding a third while trading down, is not.

Well Stallworth is not a FA, he is signed through 2011 I believe. So you need to get that right. They will release him cause he is due a large roster bonus I believe (not quite sure). But as far as Lelie....the dude hasnt did ANYTHING in 3 years. He barely touched the field last year. So I'll take my chances on someone else. like I said ALL hypothical

You are correct about the FA status. I guess that what I have been reading about him becoming a FA didn't include any of the contract bonus things. Sorry for bashing you like that. However, I think that they'd need to release him in order to not pay that big bonus, I don't think that they can get out of his bonuses by trading him. Anyhow, #7 and Stallworth for #28 and our third still has no chance of happening. For you wanting to sign Stallworth vs going with Lelie, that's a matter of opinion, so I'll respect yours and leave it at that.

i think the point you really have to look at with what you just said is the point value of the 7th pick and the value of the 29th pick.if we were to swap picks we would have to give up our 1st,2nd,3rd,and 4th just to make up the points
7th overall-1500 points 29th pick-640 8th pick 2nd round-500 points 7th pick 3rd round-235 8th pick 4th round-86 no way stallworth comes in a package like that too plus having to give up all that just to get the 7th pick is not worth it IMO.would rather keep all our picks |

I think the free agents are more valuable than the potential draft picks this year. I wouldn't want to let any of their players go, and I would try to keep everyone no matter what. But I'm draft stupid, I'll admit... and I don't follow too much college football, just the bowl games. And I think this is a weak draft.
