Don't be too hasty to anoint Singletary (?)

Singletary's players are competing hard for him, and that's why he should get a multi-year deal, many say.

OK, but for this franchise to move forward, you want a lot of the current players replaced by better players.

That's great, but Mike Nolan sounded great, too. The point is: The 49ers must make an analytical decision on a head coach instead of an emotional one. They have the benefit of a coach auditioning in real games, why not take full advantage?

As much as I'm happy and excited after yesterday's win, I think he makes a valid point, don't let the excitement of the win cloud overall judgment.

Which not saying Sing/Hill/Whomever should or shouldn't be back, but looking around the web, there seems to be a rush to judgment to jump on latest bandwagon. I prefer to wait to look at everything objectively at the end of the season.

Works for me, there's no rule that says we need to announce next years coach before the end of this year so i'm all for the wait and see approach right now.

But i will say this much Singletary has done nothing to harm his chances of landing a HC job here or anywhere else in the near future with the performances that he's gotten from our team thus far.

Pretty much. If they conduct a search and interviews and settle on Singletary, I can live with that. But don't just annoint him because he's won a few games. Sure, I have others I'd prefer over Singletary, but the main thing I don't want is a rash nonsensical decision on this matter.

We are going to risk losing him after the season if we don't lock him up before the final game....The 49ers should not get into a bidding war for him, they should re-sign him NOW!

Martz could very well leave anyway. Regardless of if Singletary is the HC or not.

And likely a new HC would want to bring in his own staff...Singletary would probably want to do the same if he is made the HC.

The simple fact of the matter is the team is playing better under Sing, period. Imagine what this team could do with him choosing his whole staff and having an off season to fill some of the gaps we still have. I don't see how there can be any better way to evaluate if he has potential as a HC than what is going on right now. He's winning games. Against good teams even. And IMHO the team has looked better every week since he took over. That for me is enough to give him a full season.
